Phillip J. Plato FInstD DipSurv MRICSPhillip is a Fellow of the Institute of Directors and a Chartered Planning & Development Surveyor he was appointed as Managing Director of the business in 1983.

Phillip qualified from the College of Estate Management in 1998 with distinction and was awarded the Land Securities Prize. He became a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in 1999.

Phillip has made keynote presentations at various seminars including Henry Stewart Conferences in London & Birmingham covering subjects of roadside property, town planning, property taxation & petrol filling stations. He also gave evidence to the House of Commons Select Committee in 2004 on the matter of unauthorised roadside development for Gypsy & Traveller sites that resulted in revised Government Guidance to Local Authorities. Phillip has also made representations at Local Plan Inquiries into various matters including Local Planning Guidance on the development of Marinas & Moorings on the Grand Union Canal.

Prior to seeking his qualifications in the property profession, he was actively involved in all aspects of the motor trade, having graduated from the General Motors Institute with a Diploma in Dealership Management in 1979 and having undertaken various training with the Sewells organisation in vehicle sales, dealership and service management. He obtained a Certificate in Professional Competence in Road Haulage and holds an HGV Class 1 driving licence. He was a Member of the Institute of Petroleum between 1983 & 2003.

In addition to his previous experience running two car dealerships within the UK, Phillip has travelled extensively in the United States following his dealership management training with GM in Flint Michigan, and has visited or worked with various dealerships in the Mid West & California, and periodically he attends the US NADA Convention.

Phillip was born in 1959 and is married to Barbara and has 2 children. His interests include, flying (he holds a PPL), rowing, (he is a qualified Umpire & L2 Coach) off road motorcycling and sport generally.
